You likely feel tender the next day because long-held toxins, stored in your muscles and lymphatic system, are flooded back into your body through deep tissue manipulation. This may be a big shock to the system, which is why we recommend drinking between to 2–2.5L of water a day following a massage. This will help flush the toxins from your body and improve circulation, your immune system and your energy levels. If these feelings continue for more than a day, please consult your doctor.
Feeling sick, especially after a deep tissue massage, is normal and a sign that the treatment has been successful. Stay on top of this with measured breathing, low sugar/salt foods and hydration.
